New Fellwood Housing

Surrounded by one of Savannah’s trademarks…the majestic oak tree Sustainable Fellwood is coming to life. These beautiful environmentally friendly apartments will soon be occupied. Earline Davis is moved by the change. She’s watched this part of town rise and fall. “Being from the neighborhood what does it mean to you? It is hard to put into words what this means because I used to walk through Fellwood from 1st through 6th grade and it was a place that people wanted to come live. Over the years it deteriorated and now we’re bringing it back,“ says Earline.

The mixed financed, mixed income apartments are appealing. Energy efficient windows and Energy Star appliances should reduce utility bills. “There will be 1,2,3, and 4 bedrooms. We’re in a 3 bedroom 2 baths.” Designed to bring comfort to families, residents will enjoy the space. “Sufficient closet space by the time we get the rods,” says Earline. Sustainable Fellwood will also feature an organic garden, computer center, and a community park. “We’re trying to make this competitive with any other private development and to give people a real choice. When you come here you’re not stepping down you’re moving to a place that has you in mind,“ says Davis. The first set of apartments are expected to be available for families to move sometime in may. Here’s a breakdown of the development. There are 110 apartments in phase one. Phase 2 will also have 110 apartments. There will be 13 single family homes, and a senior building that will have at least 100 units. Once the project is complete there will be some 40 to 44-thousand square feet of commercial space available along Bay street.
